The Catalan painter Jose Gausachs, born in 1889 and passed away in 1959 in Santo Domingo, had great importance in art history.
In Paris he cultivated friendship with other great Spanish artists of his time; such as, Modigliani, Braque, Picasso and Gargallo. After the Civil War he established him self in the Dominican Republic, creating there such school, Important Art historians of today divide
